Experience an evening in our artful,

Sitka-style studio space transformed

into an extraordinary environment

for our first Sitka Equinox Raffle &

Harvest Dinner.

This fundraiser will support programs at Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. The event will be held at Sitka Center on Saturday September 20th beginning with a reception at 6pm followed by dinner at 7pm and Sitka art raffle drawing at 8pm. Purchasing an event ticket provides a scrumptious Wild Salmon Harvest dinner served on your choice of a uniquely crafted pottery plate made especially for this event. Event tickets are $50 for Sitka members and $80 for non-members.


Raffle Tickets can be purchased for art from Sitka's permanent collection by Frank Boyden, Alex Chitty, Jenny Lind, Lauren Mantecón, Karl Pilato, Kim Stafford, Margot Voorhies-Thompson, Ned Westover plus a surprise artist. The art is available for viewing below. We offer three options for purchasing raffle tickets. Purchase one ticket for $20 for one opportunity on one art piece. Purchase one ticket for $50 for one opportunity on each art piece. Purchase four $50 raffle tickets and receive the fifth ticket free. There is no limit on the number of raffle tickets available for purchase and you need not be present to win.

Frank Boyden is a co-founder of the Sitka Center with his wife, Jane. His love of nature can be witnessed in his artwork, which may be seen at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon, and at the Laura Russo Gallery in Portland, Oregon.


Artist: Ned Westover

Ned Westover has been around the world 41 times photographing people and places in  89 countries. He has been a member of the Photographic Society of America since 1955, has exhibited widely, and has won many awards for his camera work. He spent his last years at Cascade Head Ranch, Oregon.

Kim Stafford is an upcoming Fall 08 Sitka Center Resident. Stafford has received two creative writing fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and his book Having Everything Right won a Western States Book Award in 1986. He received an Oregon Governor's Arts Award in 1998. He grew up in Oregon, Iowa, Indiana, California, and Alaska, following his parents as they taught and traveled through the West. Kim has taught at Lewis & Clark College since 1979, where he directs the Northwest Writing Institute, and teaches writing. He has worked as an oral historian, letterpress printer, editor, photographer, teacher, and visiting writer at a host of small towns in the Pacific Northwest, and at colleges in New York, California, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. He holds a Ph.D. in medieval literature from the University of Oregon, and lives in Portland with his wife and children.

Jenny Lind is a ceramic artist living in New Mexico. She created these prints in 2004 during a printmaking residency at the Sitka Center. Master printmaker Julia D'Amario helped pull the prints that Jenny produced during this residency.


Artist: Lauren Mantecón

Lauren Mantecón is an experienced teacher and studio artist known for facilitating ways of expanding the active imagination. She received a M.F.A. at Portland State University and was a professor of painting for eight years at the University of Portland in Oregon. Her studio art has been shown nationally and internationally.

Karl Pilato of New York created this print during his printmaking residency at the Sitka Center in 2002. Master printmaker Julia D'Amario pulled the prints that Karl produced during this residency.

Margot Voorhies Thompson is a calligrapher, painter, printmaker, and the designer of the Sitka Center logo. Margot is represented by the Laura Russo Gallery in Portland, Oregon.
