Ayla Gizlice is a Turkish-American artist who works primarily in mixed media sculpture and installation. She earned a B.A. with highest honors in studio art and a B.S. in environmental science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her study of environmental science informs her work both conceptually and materially, as does her relationship with the Turkish landscape. She often works with materials found and collected from her local environment and is interested in the ecological proposition that this labor poses. She was born and resides in Raleigh, NC.
