Nancy Y. Kim is a Korean-American interdisciplinary artist based out of Bologna, Italy. She draws from her experiences of otherness and foreignness while exploring dislocation and diasporic identity. Combining processes and materials of painting, sculpture, and installation, she reveals internal universes through excavation and amalgamation of nature, traditions, and experiences as a Korean-American living in Italy. Cheerfully-bright-on-the-verge-of-aggressive color to muted ghosted chroma, her works are pieces in flux, in states of always becoming. Appealing and disturbing, they trigger a sensory experience and act as both metaphors for otherness and the experience of being seen as other.
