Our workshop season typically runs from mid-June through the start of September.

Workshops vary from 1 to 5 days, usually running from 10am to 4pm. The average workshop is 3 days.

Instructors are invited to stay in on-campus residences at no cost. Instructors may bring family or friends, but please inform us in your application if you will need extra space. Arrival is at 4pm the day before your workshop for cabin access, 5pm for studio access, and departure is 11am the day after. Residences are stocked with essentials like kitchen supplies, linens and towels, but you’ll need to bring consumables like food and toiletries. ADA-compliant parking and housing are available upon request but are limited, so we kindly ask for as much lead time as you are able to give in sharing about your needs to make sure they are met. Under no circumstances are animals other than ADA-compliant service dogs allowed on Sitka’s campus, in studios or accommodations.

You set your own fee. Most instructor fees sit at $400 per day, with highly experienced instructors sometimes charging more. Material fees are separate and reimbursed based on enrollment. The cost of the workshop is calculated based on the instructor fee and length of workshop.

Keep in mind when setting your fee that Sitka provides the following support to our instructors: over night accommodations from the night before to the morning after your workshop, comfortable studio access including coffee service and the set up and break down of these spaces, promotion and communications, and interfacing with participants/customer service leading up to and throughout your workshop.

We do not offer travel reimbursement, so factor travel expenses into your fee.

Yes. Sitka Campus Hosts will help with setup, check in periodically to maker sure needs are met and assist with breakdown after the workshop.

While Sitka provides support with setup, studio maintenance and participant direction, you may bring a personal assistant if needed. Contact the Program Manager at least two weeks prior to your workshop to discuss. Note that we do not provide separate housing, and your assistant cannot lecture or participate as a student.

Sitka prefers workshops that are led by a single instructor rather than a collaborative duo due to our pay structure and limited accommodations.

Yes, you are welcome to bring a guest to enjoy on site accommodations and the area, but they can only attend your workshop if registered. Let us know if you need specific accommodations in your residence.

Pets are not allowed on campus. Sitka complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and welcomes service dogs that are individually trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities. Please note that emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals, and any animals that are not dogs are not considered service animals under the ADA. Contact the Program Manager for more details.

Avoid bringing candles, incense and wearing strong scents, as some participants may have allergies.

Instructors and participants bring their own lunches. Kitchens with dishes, refrigerators and microwaves are available, and our courtyard offers outdoor seating. Lunch break timing is flexible.

Workshops are typically held in one of Sitka’s two large multi-purpose studios, Boyden Studio and Smith Studio, with additional AV presentation space available in Edelman Studio.
