Omar El Akkad is an author and journalist.

His books have been translated into more than 13 languages. He is a two-time winner of both the Oregon Book Award and the Pacific Northwest Booksellers’ Association Award. He lives just south of Portland, Oregon, and is a faculty member of the MFA program at Pacific University. His work includes American War (2017), What Strange Paradise (2022) and One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This (2025).
