Emily Ruth Lannuzel

Youth Instructor

Emily Ruth Lannuzel grew up roaming and foraging the forests of Appalachia, sketchbook in hand. That was the beginning of a lifelong quest for universal, life-affirming truths and meaningful symbolism. Her chosen vehicles are immersion in the natural world, careful observation, conversation, and various artforms. She has lived in and visited multiple states and countries on three different continents (so far). Everywhere she has gone, she has been impressed and inspired by the beauty, diversity, resilience, and fragility of our planet. So when her journey led her to Sitka, she felt an immediate resonance.

In 2003, she received a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design with a minor in Writing, and her career path has since included numerous projects in art, design, organic and wild foods, writing, and editing, as well as youth instruction in both academic and outdoor settings. As a mother of three creative and inquisitive children of her own, she believes deeply in teaching the importance of ecological awareness and conservation. She is excited and honored to share new insights and skills with schoolchildren in Tillamook County through Sitka’s K-8 Create program.
