Description
Open to watermedia artists of all levels. Participants create coastal themed paintings using gouache on black watercolor paper. Artists normally work on a white surface, but in this workshop we will be using a black substrate and playing with incorporating and saving the black areas, working in reverse to achieve a depth of tone while building up layers to form the lightest areas. We will be taking advantage of the quick drying nature of gouache to layer and play with varying dilutions of paint and alternating warm and cool. We will explore color saturation and muted tones. Participants will be provided with reference photos, but are encouraged to bring their reference photos.
