Gillian Freney
Exhibits Coordinator
Gillian was a Sitka Art Invitational artist whose interest in Sitka deepened when she volunteered to help hang the 2024 show, and when she took a writing workshop. Her experiences with Sitka revealed a strong alignment with our ethos and mission. She joined the staff in 2025.
Gillian has a background in nonprofit program administration, volunteer management, event planning, and communications. She studied English Literature at Kenyon College, and moved to Oregon in 1998. She is passionate about the power of art to transform both creator and viewer—and about our collective responsibility to revere and protect the natural world.
