Alana Blackburn

Alana Blackburn is a professional recorder player and Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of New England, Australia, specialising in performance, pedagogy and ensemble leadership.
As a recorder player, she performs music over 500 years, mixing and juxtaposing styles to create new sound worlds. Alana has performed throughout Australia, New Zealand and Europe and has been a member of several ensembles including the Royal Wind Music (Amsterdam), Pinchgut Opera (Sydney) and The New Dutch Academy (Netherlands). She is a graduate from the Sydney and Amsterdam Conservatoriums, and has a PhD from UNE (Australia). She has recently been working in sound design, and site-specific sound work for the recorder, both as a composer/performer and commissioner.
