Grace Dunbar

Grace Dunbar (b. 1997) is a painter and printmaker based in her hometown of Portland, Oregon.
Since earning a BA in Studio Art from Whitman College in 2019, Dunbar has participated in Print Art Northwest’s Emerging Printmakers Residency and been a printmaking resident at Vermont Studio Center. With support from a 2025 Regional Arts and Culture Council Grant, she presented her first solo exhibition at One
Grand Gallery.
Beginning by collaging found images, Dunbar constructs dreamlike scenes inspired by girlhood wonder, Catholic imagery from her religious upbringing, and the intersection of the natural world and the body. Dunbar’s work stages a meeting between her adult self and childhood fixations; themes of womanhood, coming-of-age and sexuality run through her work as she explores the convergence of her current self with parts she was earlier conditioned to repress.
