Ocean is a disabled poet, novelist, and visual artist living in the Pacific Northwest.
His poetry, essays and fiction are known for their resuscitation of the mythic and their contribution to literary animism. His visual arts, informed by radical disability culture and identity, have shown throughout the country. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the Pacific Northwest College of Art; A Whiting Foundation Grant and MacArthur sponsorship; has attended residencies at Yaddo, SFAI, The Headlands Center for the Arts, and others; and his readings, exhibitions, and written work have appeared in numerous venues
