About the Instructor
Ken Marunowski is a working artist and educator who paints large, gestural abstractions and medium-size, impressionist landscapes that resonate with feeling and evocative color. A former university professor, Ken teaches painting and drawing workshops across the western United States and in southwest France. Having returned to his hometown of Valley View, Ohio in August 2024, the artist is presently pursuing a body of work based on the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the playground of his childhood.

You will need to bring:
Mixed-media, watercolor, or oil sketchbook (140lb.), 11”x14” or larger for on-site studies
Larger mixed-media, watercolor, or oil sketchbook for studio studies (18”x24”)
Palette or palette paper
Preferred drawing mediums:
Pencils
Colored pencils
Erasers
Basic pastel set (recommended)
Preferred painting mediums:
Oil, oil bars, acrylic, watercolor (all mediums welcome)
Include a basic set of preferred colors, both opaque and transparent
Notebook or journal
Favorite brushes, palette knives, brayers, and other mark-making tools
Camera (phone)
Provided by instructors:
22”x30” watercolor paper (2 pieces, 140lb.) for studio paintings
1 large piece of acrylic-primed canvas (approx. 30”x40”)
Some acrylic paint to supplement student’s supply
