Description

Whether participants’ travels take them abroad, to the park or just to their backyard, this workshop is for them! They will learn how to create illustrated journals of the things they see, taste and experience. Sitka will serve as both inspiration and laboratory for sketching from real life. Participants will learn how to scan their recent memory for experiences to sketch, how to sketch common shapes, objects and textures for their sketches and different ways to organize their illustrated journal in their sketchbook, including sample layouts from the instructor. Additionally, they will develop techniques for pencil sketching and inking their drawings, how to quickly paint illustrations with watercolor and how to annotate their sketchbook with descriptions, dates, banners or other notes that are important to them.
