Description
In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will create ceramic slab sculptures that incorporate local materials found near the Sitka Center. On the first day, students will take a short morning hike to learn about local materials then return to the studio to design their slab sculptures. On the second day, students will be guided through the process of rolling out clay slabs, incorporating their locally found materials, and construction of leather-hard clay slabs. Students will have the option to have their work fired at the Sitka Center for pickup later, or fire their work independently elsewhere.
