Zoë Gamell Brown
Zoë Gamell Brown is a queer first-generation Boviander Guyanese American award-winning artist, educator, and storyteller based in Chinook Illahee.
Her work explores Boviander ecologies through ceramic sculptures, culinary catharsis, creative nonfiction, experimental video, and photopoetry projections. She is doctoral student in the University of Oregon Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies’ inaugural cohort and a New Media Culture Certificate recipient In 2020, she founded Fernland Studios, an experimental ecology art studio prioritizing rest, rejuvenation, and reciprocity. It’s mission is to prioritize providing Black, Indigenous, and all people of color opportunities to sustain their relationship with the land through art, education, and spiritual wellness.
