The figure’s placement in the background of a work of art is a complimentary relationship. Compositions are activated by the countenance of the figure and how it relates to the environment it is placed within. Here, the visual statement becomes pronounced. Participants will study individual elements of drawing the figure, the landscape and the composition itself, with the intention to unite all these elements into engaging images. Participants will be drawing and painting with mixed media on paper and working with models situated in both indoor and outdoor environments.
