This action packed two days is filled with resin experiences that will conclude with a functional work to take home! We are going to mix, pour, spread, torch, and tilt epoxy and have the opportunity to work out our color pallet during a series of exorcises. The class is balanced with demo and hands on exploration. We will make coasters as a way to understand our possibilities for the final project- the lazy Susan, a functional work for your kitchen table or counter. Resin will be free flowing. We will use a variety of colorants including Jpigment paste, (opaque and transparent), mica powders, and other additives will be available such as glass glitter.
Alison is a resin aficionado whose approach to teaching is to encourage students to learn to work with the resin and play with color and techniques in an environment where mistakes are encouraged and breakthroughs emerge prior to completion of the final piece. She evokes the little thrills of, "what if?" and addresses the students’ emotional relationship with the art when going from loving it, to not being so sure.
